TOPIC: GIDEON -A MIGHTY MAN OF VALOUR
BIBLE PASSAGE: *JUDGES 6:1-16*
*KEY VERSE:*
_*The Lord answered, “I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites, leaving none alive.”*_ – Judges 6:16
The Israelites face oppression from the Midianites due to their disobedience to God. This leads to suffering and a cry for help from the Israelites. God sends a prophet to remind the Israelites of their covenant and past deliverance. The message emphasizes the consequences of turning away from God. God chooses Gideon to deliver Israel from Midian. Gideon expresses doubt about his ability, citing his low status and family background. God reassures Gideon, _*”I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites, leaving none alive.”*_ (v.16).
Gideon did not see himself as a mighty man of valour. In fact, he was hiding when the angel of the Lord found him. But God doesn’t call the qualified; He qualifies the called. Gideon’s transformation from a timid wheat farmer to a fearless leader demonstrates how God’s presence, blessings and enablement changes everything in a man. Throughout the Bible, God calls people beyond their comfort zones: Moses from the wilderness, David from the sheepfold, and Gideon from the wine press.
Many believers feel disqualified because of their background, weaknesses, or fears. Yet, just as God assured Gideon of His presence, He assures us too. A young woman once shared how she overcame a speech disorder to become a bold evangelist after yielding to God’s call. Gideon teaches us that courage doesn’t mean the absence of fear, but faith in God’s Word despite fear. Faith can grow through personal encounters with God and His promises. When God calls you, He equips you.
Meditate on the Lyrics of RCH 500 _*”Jesus calls us, O’er the Tumult.”*_ Look specifically at Stanza 5: _*”Jesus calls us by your mercies; Saviour, may we hear you call; Give our hearts to your obedience; Serve and love you best of all”.
*ACTION:*
_*Identify an area where fear has kept you hiding. Step out in faith and obey God’s call.*_
*PRAYER:*
_*Dear Father, please activate my ears to pick clear signals when you call me for an assignment; help me see myself the way You see me. Give me the courage to rise above fear and walk in the boldness of Your calling in Jesus victorious name, I pray, Amen.*_Good morning beloved May God answer you today Amen
